Spring Sketch and Stretch
Sunday April 23rd
12 PM – 1:30 PM

No art experience necessary!  Relax and have fun on a guided hike where you’ll learn about Lacawac and some basics of how to sketch what’s around you.  Ages 14+. Registration appreciated. Cost $10 – $5 Members.

Spring Tea at the Watres Lodge
Sunday April 30th
2-4 p.m.

Lacawac hosts this intimate country tea at our Watres Lodges in celebration of spring. It’s a traditional tea. You will be treated to scones, egg salad and chicken salad sandwiches, and various cookies and pastries. Hot teas and iced teas will be served. The table will be set with dishes and teacups from Lacawac’s collection. Come and enjoy a relaxing afternoon and learn about Lacawac’s history. $25 per guest.

Salamander Search
Saturday,May 6th
10AM – 4PM

Join Northeast Regional Coordinator, Larry Lubach, to catch, photo document, and release species for the Pennsylvania Amphibian and Reptile Survey (PARS).  This citizen science effort is best suited for ages 8 to adult.  After the workshop join us on a guided hike of the Lake Lacawac Trail and learn more about the lake and bog that make Lacawac so unique.  Bring a lunch and water. Wear comfortable clothing and shoes.  Registration is appreciated.  Free.

Mother’s Day Afternoon Watercolor
Saturday May 13th

2 PM – 3:30 PM
Parents and children will learn some watercolor basics and create nature-inspired pictures that go together. All ages. Registration appreciated. Adult Cost $10 – $5 members/ Child Cost $5 – Members Free.

Plein-air Watercolor Workshop! “The Lake at Lacawac…”

Instructors: Renee Emanuel, NSPC&A, and Bill Teitsworth, AWS
Renee and Bill have conducted annual painting workshops at Lacawac for over 25 years, and look forward to returning this spring to this very special place! Workshop day will begin with an on-location demo.  The day continues with plenty of group and individual instruction, mini-demos as needed, and group critique at 4:00 PM. Painters in any medium, and at all levels,  beginner to advanced, are welcome.

Renee Emanuel is a signature member of the National Society of Painters in Casein and Acrylic, a two-time winner of the Marion Sola de Mendes Award, and a two-time winner of the Richeson-Shiva Award. Bill Teitsworth is a signature member of the American Watercolor Society, and the winner of the Greathouse Medal, the High Winds Medal, and the Silver Medal of Honor.

Afternoon Paddle

Enjoy a Sunday Afternoon canoe paddle on Lake Lacawac. Learn about the scientific research being done at Lacawac Sanctuary and what makes it such an ideal place for ecological study.  All ages welcome. Boats, paddles and life jackets are provided.Personal lifejackets may be used. Reservations required as spaces are limited. Cost: $15 – $10 members.
